Young people whose parents or grandparents migrated to Switzerland find it harder to find apprenticeships than their classmates with a Swiss background. Studies have shown that this phenomenon can’t be explained by grades alone.
That’s why, in early 2009, SAD held two roundtables to discuss the problem and possible solutions in Biel/Bienne and Zurich, bringing together representatives of businesses, young people from a migrant background and members of authorities and professional organisations.
Recommendations for professional organisations
SAD summarised the ideas and problems that were discussed at the roundtables in this report (only available in German) aimed at professional organisations, authorities, education specialists and businesses.
