The Karen Women Empowerment Group (KWEG) has been formed in 2003 with the initiative of women activists, feminists and civil society leaders. Their primary objective is to further strengthen the capacity of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) which empower women and protect their rights in Myanmar.
KWEG’s interventions especially focus on the development of women and children, the participation of women in the peace process and the elimination of gender based violence.
The joint initiative of KWEG and SA4D empowered young women in Myanmar to overcome trauma by using sport and play.
